One of my favourite pieces of “furniture” for lofts isn’t really furniture but is just as important a part of furniture than anything else. It is also a key feature of any loft conversion or any other room within your home. The difference that a good window can make to your loft is the difference between a great loft, and an amazing loft. Skylights, velux or any other type of window can make a large difference in the way your loft looks, and the way the light is able to enter your room.
It’s so nice to have a large skylight if you are looking for a loft conversion to being in as much natural light as possible. Natural light is a key factor in making your home look spectacular, but it’s also a negative in the United Kingdom. The way the natural light looks within the United Kingdom, it can give your home a gloomy and almost depressing look. Even during the summer when it should be perfect hours, it can still be rainy and grey. I am sure I have seen fog in the middle of summer some years. It’s not the best, but some people love it.
I personally love looking at the rain fall in a skylight. I have always loved the rain, so it’s enjoyable to see the rain drop from underneath. What is even cooler however, is seeing lightning storms through a skylight. One of my greatest moments in life was watching a lightning storm break out for 4 or 5 hours and being able to see every bolt travel throughout the sky connecting to other clouds or bolts.
I know that not everyone is a fan of a skylight, but I would recommend getting one if you are in love with nature and the world. It gives you such an amazing outlook of the world when you are able to see the sky and the stars every day.
Metro Loft Furniture has taken its inspiration from two things. Firstly, I’m a loft converter in Manchester, so I often must order furniture that was designed specifically for loft living or use. Secondly, I’m often considered a “Metrosexual” man because of the fashion that I like to stay in tune with. If you live in Manchester, you would know how it can be at times. As much as I love Manchester, if you are in tune with your feminine sign or you are aware about fashion, you are considered less of a man. It is a hard truth, but its truer because of the industry I am in. Builders are generally rougher than men in other industries, so at times it can seem as if you have a target painted on your back if you do not act like the “man” they perceive you to be. Having said that, they are good people and most of this perception comes from the environment that they have been raised in, rather than the true feelings of the area itself.
I really love some of the furniture that has been designed purely for loft living. I consider loft furniture to be a compact – or mini – version of normal furniture you would find in a home. The beds are always smaller, the desks are always shorter, and the lights always hand lower. It’s like you are designing a room for a real-life dollhouse. That means the furniture creators and especially the carpenters who are specialised in creating bespoke furniture design for lofts have a lot more creative license in their designs.
The colours are always different, the artwork and decal are always innovative and the whole style of the loft turns from what could be considered an artistic mess into an artisan’s dream. I mainly work with loft conversion companies just because I enjoy designing the lofts so much. So in this blog, we are going to discuss the various types of loft furniture you would come across if you decide to convert your loft!
